Directions to the University Inn
The University Inn is located on Douglass Campus (click here for a map.) From both Newark and JFK airports we recommend to take the Princeton Airporter (1-800-385-4000) to the East Brunswick Hilton. From the Hilton it takes about 5 minutes by taxi (not more than $10) to get to the Inn. For further options, and more directions please check the home page of the University Inn!
During the conference a shuttle bus will provide transportation between the Inn and the conference site for the participants of DO'99 every morning and evening. The conference site as well as the center of New Brunswick and Rutgers University can also be accessed by the free Intercampus Bus Service.
Directions to RUTCOR and the Silver Apartments
RUTCOR and the Silver Apartments are located on Busch Campus, in close vicinity to each other (click here for a map.) From both Newark and JFK airports we recommend to take the Princeton Airporter (1-800-385-4000) to the East Brunswick Hilton. From the Hilton it takes about 15 minutes by taxi (about $15) to get to Busch Campus.
Bus and Train InformationCarey Bus Lines (718-632-0506): Buses leave from Kennedy Airport every half-hour starting 6:00 AM until Midnight going to the Port Authority in New York City. Buses leave Port Authority for Kennedy every half hour 15 minutes after the hour and 15 minutes before the hour (i.e., 9:15, 9:45, etc.).(Both buses and signs are blue and white.) Cost -- $11.50 per person one-way.
Suburban Transit Bus Lines (908-249-1100): Buses leave NYC Port Authority on upper level gate #420 every half hour up to 11:00 PM; last bus 1:00 AM. Buses leave for NYC across from railroad station in New Brunswick every half hour on the quarter hour (4:15, 4:45, 5:15, etc.) Cost -- $9.95 round-trip.
NJ Transit (Trains) (201-762-5100): Trains leave from Penn Station in New York, going to New Brunswick every half-hour starting at 8:07 AM until 10:44 PM. Cost -- $7.75 per person one-way, $11.50 round-trip.
Travel by taxi
From Newark Airport to our area a taxicab would cost approximately $45.00.
From Newark Airport: Take NJ Turnpike (Toll Road) South from Airport. Get off Turnpike at Exit 9. Take Route 18 North as described below.
From JFK Airport: Two highways leave Kennedy Airport and both intersect with the Belt Parkway. Take the Belt Parkway West (approx. 16 miles) to the Verrazanno Bridge. After crossing the Verrazanno bridge, you will be on Route 278 West. Continue on Route 278, crossing over the Goethals Bridge, watching for signs for the New Jersey Turnpike. Get on the New Jersey Turnpike South, and get off at Exit 9. Take Route 18 North as described below.
From Route 18: Follow Route 18 North (or West - signs differ, mean the same) to New Brunswick Area. Follow sign to 18 North along the Raritan river over a big bridge across the river, till a traffic light at the end of the bridge at River Road. Continue straight onto Metlar's Lane, crossing River Road at this light. Proceed up Metlar's Lane till 2nd left (Brett Road). Turn left onto Brett Road. At top of Brett Road (beginning of parking lots), bear left into furthest parking lot (Lot 64) (see map here). The WINLAB modular building will be visible on left. The RUTCOR building is set back next to WINLAB. A concrete walk-path takes you there from the parking lot.
From Route 1 and Turnpike (Exit 9 on Turnpike): Get on Route 18 West/North and follow directions as above.
From Route 287 North: Take Exit #9 (Bound Brook/Highland Park). Turn left off ramp and go through light (River Road). Drive through to fifth light (Metlars Lane) - approximately 4 miles. Take a left onto Metlars Lane and follow directions as above (see map below).
From Route 287 South: Take Exit #9 (Bound Brook/Highland Park). Bear right and follow above directions.
