The interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Operations Research trains specialists
in both the theory and practice of Operations Research. Doctoral students will
be exposed to theoretical and computational aspects of Operations Research,
as well as the wide range of its applications. They will also be expected to
specialize, by taking an in-depth series of courses chosen to complement their
individual strengths and interests. Students are encouraged to get involved
in the research activities of RUTCOR faculty members from the time of their
arrival on campus.
The major requirements for the Ph.D. involve coursework, a Ph.D. Qualifying
Examination, and a dissertation. Students are also expected to participate in
RUTCOR seminars and other major RUTCOR events. These are spelled out in detail
below.
